I am actually very very very fucking annoyed!

Tomorrows newspaper won’t tell the story as I imagine it to really be.

Tonight, in my opinion, British Airways has used paying customers as pawns in its bid to make money (or recoup losses – who cares?).

Unfortunately the government won’t admit to being swayed by the airline for fear of looking weak and the airline won’t admit to pressurising the government for fear of looking like it values profit over the safety of its customers but to my eyes that is exactly what has happened.

I watched live satellite pictures as the Calgary to Heathrow flight circled the Isle of Man 7 or 8 times before finally landing at Heathrow at almost exactly 10pm. They had been in British airspace for nearly 3 hours! More than enough time to land in relative safety elsewhere in Europe. However BA knew that they could pressurise the British government and (more than likely) NATS into finding in their favour.

Did the passengers know they were being used? I doubt it? Did BA consult with them, their families, the pilots, the cabin crew?

No of course they fucking didn’t. Because if they had they wouldn’t have put those lives at risk or held them in the balance.

I think that there should be some accountability. Whatever discussions took place should be made public and if BA did apply pressure (which from an outside perspective it would seem they did) they should no longer be allowed to operate.

As someone who flies regularly (far more than I would like anyway) I will never set foot on another BA flight again.
